In the land of blogging, there are religious blogs and secular blogs, all of which have something to offer. Now, whether an individual desires to read and post on a Christian Social Justice blog is another story. For, while some Christians believe social justice is a requirement of faith, others do not.
As many see social justice taking form from biblical roots, it is not surprising that many of these forums take on a religious slant. With that being said, there can be discussions which are both liberal and conservative. As such, it is up to each individual to decide whether to join, comment or post on a site.
While most liberal churches and religions now have these type programs, more conservative branches tend to work in other ways. Churches and religious sects which offer these type forums often have a set time for meetings. Whereas, most of these groups meet on a regular basis to discuss various social issues and events.
These type programs, whether based in secular or religious circles tend to focus on helping those most in need. Sometimes this might be the need of a church member, a friend, or even a town. While the biblical interpretation of the word just means to make things right, it is unclear as to whether this means that an individual helping others will in result in making things right with God. In other cases, it might be that an individual can make things right with God but never find the forgiveness one seeks from others.
Ultimately, most religious based programs are going to focus less on the action or incident and more on whom can provide grace and forgiveness. Often, individuals get bogged down with issues rather than considering the people those issues effect. Something that makes this type blog or forum a great place to post comments and discuss issues related to finance, equality, safety nets, security and other concerns which effect all people.
While those looking to create an entry to the kingdom here and now seem to be working from more of a selfish vision. If the individual is only working for the good of others as a means for the good of self, then it is hard to decipher whether or not the individual is sincere. Of course, anyone working toward the good of others is working toward the good of all, something the whole world can appreciate.
Social work is one area in which believers and non-believers can make a difference. While some may perceive the future as being akin to the Kingdom of God, others may see a more secular one. To this end, when all people, regardless of faith, find a voice with regards to promoting social justice, then and only then will a more just world exist, whether now or in the future.
