What You Need To Know About Preparing The Royal Priesthood

By Steven Smith

It may be that not much thought has been given to the training that a partaker of the Royal Priesthood has to undergo. This is particularly if an individual wishes to successfully serve God as a governing priest. Consequently, Preparing the Royal Priesthood becomes an essential undertaking. This is fundamentally by undergoing training sessions that enable one to understand and entirely fulfill the requirements of this role.

Generally, understanding the key outline of Heavenly Kingdom is not difficult. Basically, it consists of two major parts, the Royal Priesthood and a multitude of saved people. The former, Jesus Christ is the chief priest and the latter being the multitude which God will save to join the righteous.

It is necessary to also understand that a Christian Church is a Royal Priesthood and is withdrawn from the world in order to bless and govern the multitude of saved beings. Every believer in the present times has an appointing of a royal priest. The appointment is the working of grace and hence not dependent on spiritual aptitude. In as much as all believers whether male or female, old or young constitute the Royal-Priesthood, it never implies that priests are equal but that their privileges to undertake priestly duties are equal.

As priests through belief, we embody ourselves unto God. We never have to make known our transgressions unto the clergy but confess them privately and directly to God. As priests, we ought to boldly come before Him and present our appeals by ourselves. As opposed to the priestly hood in Israel that was on the basis of physical birth, a priesthood of believers is founded on salvation or new birth.

It remains the duty of every believer to spiritually increase by considering and putting into use the doctrines of the Bible. The spiritual life is one invisible business with God and is geared towards the priestly-hood. Until the full development of the spiritual life via diligence in the study and use of Biblical precepts, a believer may never meet their priestly-hood calling and responsibility.

One characteristic of the function of a priest is worship. This is often misinterpreted as an emotionalism, but an ideal worship seeks to satisfy the Biblical doctrines. Worship can be done by ritual activities such as communion services or through non-ritual activity such as singing songs. Irrespective of the form of worship taken, it should always be in honor of God and the correct doctrine. Also, reading and implementing word of God is key in worship. Giving offerings and thanksgiving prayers are also priestly roles.

The right purpose of the spiritual life of a believer-priest is to establish an association with God. Such relationships are unseen and private. Only the individual can tell the nature of their association.

It is, therefore, important for each believer to learn, comprehend, and execute the true spiritual life. Without that, a believer lives a life executing forms of legalism and asceticism which result to spiritual weakness and unhappiness. However, the actual priestly hood is not visible and goes beyond doing good acts and observing the Ten Commandments.
