Join A Church To Minister Out To Unbelievers

By Marissa Velazquez

The insistence by pastors and evangelists for new believers to join a church that teaches the doctrine of Christ is well bounded in scripture. It is an important step for new believers to establish and maintain a rooting in Christ that will guarantee them a position in heaven. It is in a fellowship of believers that a new believer grows in faith and in act in accordance with the scriptures.

The word of God is the spiritual food for every child of God. The bible in the book of Hosea puts it clear that so many believers perish because of ignorance and miss their place in the kingdom of God. False doctrine therefore is sure ways for making believers miss their place in the kingdom either knowingly or unknowingly.

Being a congregant in a house of worship magnifies the glory of God. The scripture commands that believers should live and act in a way that even the ungodly that criticize them, can give glory to God. By walking the talk about salvation and the importance of the house of God to the life of a believer, unbelievers can get motivated to be part of the walk to the kingdom of God.

Christians are followers of the character and life of Christ. The book of Acts of the Apostles presents the picture of the first house of worship of Christ formed after the disciples received the Holy Spirit. Since the apostles were gathered together under the leadership of Paul, a man the scriptures says we should emulate as he emulates Christ, it is therefore necessary that new believers find a family in emulation of the scriptures.

People who are not Christians are critical and observant to the behavior of those claiming to be believers. By believers congregating in a house of worship that does not teach the right word of God, they do not reflect well onto the believers. This makes it hard for these people to try to preach the message of the cross to those who have not received it.

The bible commands Christians to be joyful givers to He who is the reason for their existence. It is only in a house of worship that Christians can exercise this godly command by offering their tithes and other offerings. Giving attracts blessings from God which reflects to unbelievers the faithfulness to God not only to those who give but for those who heed to his word.

New believers, once saved, receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit for their various functioning in the body of Christ. It is in the house of God that these gifts are further developed and enhanced. The gifts that believers receive, as stated in scripture, are intended for the unity of the body of Christ that is why the gift of speaking in tongues and that of interpreting are given to different believers.

The decision by a believer to join a church is very important to their growth and should be based on the right doctrines. Because there are so many houses of God with some teaching false doctrines purporting to do so in the name of Christ, it is vital for believers to have an in-depth understanding of the word of God. This understanding together with constant prayer can help believers identify the right house of worship whether they will grow spiritually and their gifts will be uplifted.
