There is a myriad of laws that apply to the pharmaceutical industry and individuals working in it. Pharmacist-attorneys, wholesalers, pharmacists, manufacturers and other stakeholders have formed a pharmacy law society to lobby for their interests. This organization also includes students studying either law or pharmacy and would like to get acquainted with what is happening in this sector.

There is an annual seminar on development of laws on the pharmaceutical industry that is organized for members and stakeholders. Members get preferred slots and consideration during registration to this conference. This platform provides you with over fifteen credit hours of continuing education. It is a great plus to your career at personal level and increases your competitiveness in employment.

Membership is split into two categories. Legal and pharmacy degree holders are grouped into the category of core members. Such individuals must be active participants. Their registration per year is 135 dollars. Student membership involves student-pharmacists and those pursuing legal studies at undergraduate level. They are required to register with forty dollars in order to participate in activities organized by the society and targeting members.

The society is run by a board of directors that comprises of four members and an ex-official secretary. The directors are current president, president-elect, immediate former president and the treasurer. Four other members are involved in daily running of the organization even though they are not officers.

An annual meeting must be held according to the bylaws governing the body. Its agenda, time and venue are decided by the board. This does not stop members from making proposals that can guide the decision of this board regarding the agenda, timing and venue of the annual meeting.

As a lobbyist for stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry, the society ensures that laws made at different levels are not oppressive. They organize seminars and conferences targeting members on different issues. Members enjoy referral services and expert witness services from the group. An online registration and information portal provides very resourceful information to members.

Members have a chance to link with bodies operating in the pharmaceutical industry through the society. Members are kept updated through email regarding any legislation and regulations affecting them. Stakeholders in the industry consider this as their voice.
