The Origin And Procedures Of The Episcopal Church Cornelius NC

By Jennifer Baker

Over the course of time many faiths have come up. A number of the older organizations have also managed to grow and fit in with the current times. The Episcopal Church Cornelius NC is a branch of one of these. They practice Anglo-Catholic routines, while incorporating some protestant theology. Within America alone it has a following of almost two million people.

This body set up in America in the early sixteen hundreds, bringing with it Anglican and catholic doctrines. They used the Book of Common Prayer to determine their way of life and for their services. In the seventeen hundreds, this organization split forms their mother faith. They incorporated the Book of Common Prayer but altered it a bit to suit the American ways. Also in this century is when they first spread to North Carolina.

The doctrine of the religious faith is based on the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They believe there are two necessary sacraments. They also believe in the holy trinity. Emphasis is placed on loving your neighbor as you do yourself, which is the greatest of all commandments. They draw they use Anglican authority concentrating on scripture, tradition and wisdom.

They are governed by a particular institutional policy with its own canon laws organized into dioceses, led by bishops. The congregations elect a vestry which will have the duty of electing the rector in charge of the parish, as well as deacons and priests to assist. Their worship is a mix of Anglican and catholic routines with protestant theology.

This institution has made a number of decisions that have been controversial for the congregation over the years. They have allowed women as priest, bishops and currently even have one female archbishop. This all started in the nineteen seventies. It initially brought about problems, with those who thought it was theologically incorrect to have women ordained. Currently all the dioceses in America have at least woman ordained.

It also accepted the lesbian, gay and bisexual community at round the same time. They went ahead to ordain a gay priest and allow the union of same sex marriages. The ordination of a gay and non-celibate member as a bishop sparked a lot of protest with divided opinions all through the congregation. It led to the breaking away of some of the members and outright protests within the doctrine. Another controversial issue has been its stand on abortion. The institution seems to side with the right of the mother to terminate the pregnancy. It however does not agree with using abortion as a means of birth control.

Spiritual nurturing is not all the institution does. It has set up a number of programs. They have a fund to sponsor the learning of the less able members of their congregations. They also have full sponsorship to some seminary students. In times of crisis they also assist with an aid program set to help worldwide in times of disaster.

In this institution, this faith is available to that seeking this religion. They are situated on Davidson Street and have a Sunday service between ten and eleven thirty in the morning. The rector at the organization is Reverend KyleWallace. They also use social media, with a Facebook page and blog on which you can get religious updates.
