Factors To Consider When Making And Sending Out Your Save The Date Cards

By Joyce Richardson

You can notify your guests about your upcoming wedding even when the event is still many months away. You can do this by using save the date cards. Even though this is optional, it is important for many reasons. It can help individuals who are planning to travel long distance to prepare well in advance, for instance, by organizing childcare, pet sitting or house sitting. Plus it helps your friends and family to know that you are engaged and to free themselves from any engagement they might have during busy seasons. Here are some helpful things to keep in mind when making and sending out the invitations.

The earlier you inform people about your intended wedding, the better. Therefore, let them know way in advance. This will require that you send out the invites as soon as you have agreed on where the wedding will be held and the day of the event. Do not wait until too late to end the invites, otherwise it may just be best to just send out wedding invites.

Not everyone on your guest list has to get the card. Just the people who you really do not want to miss out on the wedding. This includes everyone you want to be in your bridal party. It will also be considerate of you to end out the invites to people who live far from where the wedding will be hosted. This is to give them ample time to sort out any issues they have before they travel.

Include all the essential information in the invites. This includes the date of the wedding, the location and your names. You do not have to include more details as you can do that when you are sending the wedding invitations. You can make the invitations simple. They can either be formal or informal. The invites do not have to be similar to your wedding invitations, so you still have the freedom to experiment with what you like.

Even though electronic invitations can work, consider sending cards through postal mail. This makes things more formal and serious. However, if you must send out electronic invites consider doubling them up with paper correspondence. This will work well for older relatives or people who may want to keep the invites as keepsakes.

Leave out information about your wedding registry. Some people may view this as being in bad taste, since the wedding is meant to celebrate the couple and it is not mainly about giving gifts to the couple. However, you can include a link to your website, where you can include your gift registry details.

You can choose to include photos on the cards or not to include photos. It depends on your preferences. When choosing which photos to include in the invitations, consider using engagement photos that you took. Alternatively, you can just use any couple photo of you two in the invitations.

No need to panic in case you have erred on the invites. If you haven't sent them out yet, just make the correction but if the mistake is too glaring then you may just have to reprint them. If you have already mailed the invites, call each person you sent the invites too and let them know that there was an error on the invites and tell them the correct information.
