One of the major events in the Christian doctrine that many followers are looking out for is known as the Rapture which is mentioned in the book of Revelations. The Rapture is also known as the Second Coming and is the event in which Jesus returns to earth to get all his followers and finally defeat the devil. Of course, one would wonder what the signs are of this event.
One of the most commonly talked about signs of the rapture would be the emergence of the four horsemen. These four horsemen happen to be war, famine, pestilence, and death. War would be the presence of a possible World War iii, famine would be a food shortage, pestilence would represent the sicknesses of earth, and death represents the destruction of mankind.
Now, one would argue that World War II was the worst war that the earth has experienced and that there is definitely no more chance that it could happen again. Well, if one would watch news, he or she would see that humans have now made a weapon even worse than the atomic bombs which is the nuclear bomb. A drop of nuclear bomb could result in the spreading of chemical induced illnesses, the destruction of the earth leading to food shortage, and then human extinction.
Another sign would be the return of Elijah wherein he would restore the natural order of all things. This was a direct prophecy from Jesus Christ himself, so many Christians actually see this sign as one of the biggest signs of the Return. In fact, many regard Herbert W Armstrong as the Elijah that was mentioned by Christ for the end times.
If one is familiar with the book of Matthew twenty four, then he or she will be aware of another sign which states that Christianity will spread throughout the entire world. Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, one of his commandments was to spread the gospel and convert as many people as possible. This has most likely already been done since Christianity is an extremely big religion on a worldly scale.
This also relates to the prophecy that when people start sharing the gospel, the end times are near. Obviously, this pilgrimage has already been happening over the past few years which is why Christianity has become a big religion. Of course, the Bible also mentions the coming of a false prophet as well so that is a bit tricky.
Lastly, there is the sign that an extremely evil man will take control of this world and unify all currencies under one. This man will be known as the antichrist and will be opposing Christianity. Now, there are actually so many people who may fit this description so it may be a hard to pinpoint who exactly this evil leader is.
Because of this evil person, many people will fall out of Christianity and eventually reject the teachings of Christ. The antichrist will lead the big fall out which will eventually result in many not believing in God and the teachings of Christ.
