Wisconsin Drunk Driving Laws Are Important

By Roger Fisher

Getting stopped by the police is not fun. He or she may give you a warning or a ticket. You may have a more serious situation on your hands such as driving under the influence. Look into what you can do to get some legal advice. Wisconsin drunk driving laws are not easy to follow, but you can with some help.

You were out with friends and people started drinking and you were not even expecting it. You got caught up in it without expecting to. You are also the one behind the wheel. It is never good to drink and drive. Your judgment can get so impaired.

It does not take long for the ar to get out of control. It is weaving in traffic and other drivers are honking at you. You get pulled over by a police officer in no time who asks you to step out of the car and breathe into a machine which tells you how much alcohol is in your blood. You have a very high amount and the officer arrests you.

The court appoints an attorney for you who is paid by the state. The information that this person gives you is not good. You must face the fact that you have broken the law and could have really hurt someone. It is fortunate that you did not hurt anyone except the people that you love. They were really scared for you.

Even though your lawyer seems like he or she know what they are talking about, you may want to visit your library near where you live. A law library is also a good idea. You can find one in a university or college that has a law program. Call a college and ask or ask the librarian at the library.

Journal some thoughts and feelings about the reason that you got yourself into this mess. It is not good to be too hard on yourself, but to look at why you needed the approval of your friends so much over breaking the law and endangering people's lives. Getting help will be a good idea so you do not repeat something like this again in the future.

Twelve step groups are also a great resource. You can meet other people who are also in your situation. They can probably relate to you and you to them. Share what you are going through with the group and follow the steps carefully. You could also get a sponsor, a person who usually has a certain length of time of sobriety and are available to help you overcome your addiction.

One of the steps in the twelve steps is to make amends to people that we have hurt. It is sad reality that you have probably hurt people whom you love if you are a recovering addict. Go to each of them and be sincere so you can clear up your slate and have a fresh start in life. It is refreshing to know that you can have a second chance.
