It is completely normal for your blood pressure to soar each time you are pressured at work. The same can happen each time you are nervous, excited or working out. Other than heart disease, chronic stress can also cause diabetes to strike. It's for the fact that being stressed all the time can lead to the elevation of the levels of sugar in the bloodstream. Just like heart disease, there are many different risk factors for diabetes. According to health authorities, one of them is increased blood sugar levels. The consumption of sugary and starchy foods is not the only thing that can cause the blood sugar to rise, but also stress.

While it's a fact that stress cannot directly cause cancer to come into being, certain behaviors associated with it are regarded as risk factors. Some examples of those are cigarette smoking and alcoholism. Failure to get a good night's sleep is an example, too. Another one is stress eating that can lead to obesity, a common risk factor for cancer.
