Choosing The Right Honeymoon Safari

By Stacey Burt

Today more and more couples are opting for safaris as a way to celebrate after their wedding. With the bewildering array of information on offer in the media and on various websites, it can be quite daunting to choose a honeymoon safari. Rather than choosing a destination first, it is often better to first consider the type of experience desired. There are a number of factors to take into account, with budget often being the most important consideration.

Some of the decisions that need to be made are what type of travel to use, what kind of accommodation to stay in and whether to join a group or not. Camps vary considerably from some that are extremely luxurious to others that are far simpler. Staying in a luxury lodge is another option. Customizing a tour rather than just joining a group tour is obviously more expensive but often worth the extra expense.

Most couples want some luxury when it comes to accommodation and they will not be disappointed. Many of the lodges are extremely luxurious and even the tented camps have a high standard of accommodation. Beautifully designed and decorated private suites are available for the special couple. Of course those with a more limited budget have simpler options available to them.

This may be the most romantic experience a couple will ever have. Imagine taking a moonlit bath together, enjoying a candlelit private dinner or candlelit dinner in the bush. Camp managers usually go out of their way to make a couple feel special with little extra touches like a bottle of champagne on arrival.

Many of the countries in Africa like Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia are favorite locations. The destination chosen will depend largely on the type of experience the couple is looking for. Tanzania, for example, offers the option of game viewing for a couple of days, followed by time relaxing on the beach.

Couples may have some doubts about the quality of food they will get on such a safari but they have no reason to worry. Companies arranging these adventures take pride in the food prepared, making sure it is excellent quality and prepared by expert chefs. Breakfasts usually consist of both cereals and fruit as well as eggs, sausages, bacon and breads. The other meals may include fresh vegetables and fruit, salads, pastas, fish and meat.

For couples who are fearful about the idea of sleeping in tents, going on game drives in open-sided vehicles or being bitten by poisonous snakes and insects, they are soon reassured when given all the relevant information regarding their safety. The best companies make use of expert guides, well trained to avoid any real danger and every possible measure is taken to ensure the safety of individuals at all times.

Choosing a company with years of experience and an excellent track record will help to ensure that an experience is as enjoyable and safe as possible. Customizing a trip may be a more expensive but it also ensures that you get exactly what you are looking for. This is an experience that may not come around again too quickly and offers many couples a chance to experience something quite unique to mark the beginning of their married life together.
