The Basic Beliefs Of A Connection Church

By Eric Adams

For religious minded individuals, there are number of churches at which to worship. While this is the case, Christian denominations and sects can vary a great deal. In the case of a connection church, most are of the Assembly of God denomination.

When it comes to practices and beliefs, there are some basic beliefs which liberal and conservative congregations share. For the most part, this is the belief in the Holy Trinity, being God, the Father, Jesus the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. In all cases, while these are three separate entities, each is also an aspect of the Living God.

The church believes that the spiritual image of God is reflected in man. As part of this belief, individuals must strive to be more like God in everyday life. While believing that man has the ability to be good, all are effected by sin. At which time, sin separates mankind from God.

As most conservative evangelical denominations, the church shares the belief that Christ is the way, truth and life into the Kingdom of God. As such, those whom accept Christ as Lord and Savior will thereby enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Most often, all Christian churches share the belief that Jesus is the son of God, whom now sits at the right hand of the father. Whereas, there are others whom suggest that Jesus and God are co-equals. Almost all share in the belief that Jesus was born of a virgin, Mary, was crucified and rose again, then ascended to heaven and will return again to reign over the earth as Lord of Lord and King of Kings.

Salvation, according to those involved in the faith is a gift from God to man. While this is the case, man can never overcome sin through self-improvement or by becoming involved in good works. In fact, the only way to salvation is to receive Jesus Christ and share in the belief of the Holy Trinity. After which, through prayer, study and worship the individual can become closer to all aspects of God.

Once having received Jesus Christ as Savior, the individual has been saved by the grace of God. As such, salvation is an everlasting gift which requires no self-effort on the part of the individual. As a result, the individual is maintained by the power and grace of God through the Bible which while written by the hands of men is the one and only inspired word of God.

Almost all Christian churches believe the Holy Spirit resides within each Christian to provide direction, and answers to questions and prayers. Whereas, it is also believed the Holy Spirit guides individuals to lead others to a life of faith and salvation. Lastly, ongoing prayers, study and worship along with listening to inner-guidance provided by the holy spirit helps all those whom have been saved maintain a closer relationship with living Christ.
